Dr. Franklin McCain, one of the Greensboro Four from the 1960 Woolworth counter sit-in, passed away on January 9, 2014. Dr. McCain shared his oral history as part of our Lincoln’s Legacy initiative. We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. McCain’s family, friends and loved ones.
Dr. McCain's determination to "do something about it" in the face of discrimination is inspirational. Taylor's interview of her grandfather shows such poise and understanding.
I loved the message near the end of the video about success. Personal success is expected, we need to think broader. We should strive to be a personal success at minimal. When we start thinking about what we can achieve beyond our own personal triumphs is where the real success lies. When we help our community/nation to move forward, that's when we can be proud of success, when it positively affects the ones we care about and everyone around us as a whole.
What an inspiration to his generation and for others to come!
Remembers my Grandfather. The principal man teaches the next generations.
This is very moving & beautiful Taylor. I'm sure you have fond memories of times with your grandfather, learning about his life & the civil rights movement... thanks for sharing with the world!
